"Design and operation of the Eterna.Matic watch:
"A fundamental difficulty is encountered in the application of a self-winding mechanism to a ladies wrist watch, namely the fact well known to all designers that the performance of any machine falls off with a reduction in its overall dimensions. The reason for this is the impossibility of reducing the inevitable frictional losses, and the power consumed by auxiliary mechanisms, in the same proportion as the reduction of the dimensions."
