"Characteristics of the Mainspring may be compromised if its Dimensions are not correct" by G. A. Berner, former director of the Watchmaking School at Bienne- Original magazine article (magazine clipping) which was removed from a 1955 Swiss magazine.
Text in the article is in English.
The article includes a couple of Tables:
* Table of Standard Dimensions of Mainsprings
* Table for the Calculation of Mainspring Sizes
The opening paragraph of the article reads:
"The replacement of a mainspring is an extremely common repair operation; if it is carried out correctly the new spring will give the watch a running time of from 36 to 40 hours. The dimensions of a mainspring (thickness and length) allow of the maximum number of turns of winding being obtained, so as to ensure the optimum utilisation of the elasticity of the spring under the best possible conditions."
The magazine article was carefully removed from a Swiss magazine.
[Please note: this is a magazine article/magazine clipping only; no watch, clock, parts or tools are included.]
The article is 7 pages in length (on 4 sheets of paper), including the Tables.
As with most vintage magazine clippings, there is some yellowing to the paper due to age as well as light wear and small bends.
The magazine article was carefully removed directly from a Swiss magazine. It is not a copy or reproduction. The rest of the magazine is not included.
[Please note: this is a magazine article/magazine clipping only; no watch, clock, parts or tools are included.]
