"Lemhi River winds up a Mido watch ...

"'Eight years ago my wife presented me with a Mido Multifort; it was running fine and accompanied me faithfully to work and play. Last September, as I was trout fishing in the Lemhi River, I lifted my arm too quickly, my watch got loose and fell into the river. 'Good-by forever' I thought, somewhat sadly. Still, since I always went back to the same spot for fishing, I looked every time for my watch; I even constructed a kind of telescope with which I searched the river bottom. I was just about to give up, when I located it lying with the wrist band wedged between two boulders. With the help of some friends I went down into the water, at about seven feet, picked the watch up, brought it back, looked at it - to find that it was still running: for several days the swift current had kept it wound up.
